Rendering tone

This particular excise was one that I was particularly interested in and one of the ones that I take strength in.

Eye rolling Animation (reaction shot)

A new technique that I learned in Animation Essentials is that characters seen in animations are usually acted out by the animators to capture real-life movement and put them on screen.

Here is what the animation looked like after I used the significant key frames in between.

On that video it looks very choppy as it plays at a frame rate of only 12 frames per second, which is something I do not want. The purpose of that video was to test the key frames to get a decent concept of how it would look before I went more into the exaggeration.

What I did to overcome this I drew a new frame for each frame I made so that it would run at the same time but the frame rate would now be 24 frames per second.

This video shows the final animation.

Objects colliding

For the final project, I used the recording and the animation I did earlier in the module because I believe it captured the type of animation collision that I was aiming for.

I decided to use a balloon getting hit by a soft ball. I watched carefully and took every frame into consideration when doing so. I used TV Paint and a tablet to do this and it turned out better than I anticipated, though I do think it can be improved and that I could've done better if I had the time.

This is the video I used as a reference guide for my object colliding project.

Animation showreel

For Animation Essentials, I have combined all of my assignment animation tasks into one video for my first semester.

Here is my animation showreel https://vimeo.com/151292426

Animatic

Animatic is used for pre-visualization of the movie. Animators do this to get an idea of what the animation is going to look like and how synced it is with the sound. This is a stage where they will be able to correct any mistakes they make before going into the final animation, ensuring the best possible quality for the final animation.

Here is my animatic for my Animatic for my animation idea Prankster parrot.

I have chosen to do the Prankster Parrot idea as I believe that the moral in the story is very effective and because I believe it is very significant in terms of morals.

Lip sync

Very similar to animating to sound. The difference being that this method involves certain mouth movements that are used on characters synced in with character dialogue. Lip sync can be a complex procedure but can bring the character to life. I find this method to be very interesting.

This is my dope sheet I used to capture the mouth movements for the audio. Notice how I didn't spell "Whatever" correctly on the dope sheet? Well it's because with lip sync not all of the letters are used since not all the letters are pronounced in terms of English. In this case the "ER" at the end is pronounced like "A" rather than "ER."

Below is the picture of mouth shapes I will use below the letters that correspond tot them. There is also the female character that will be saying the audio that I will use.

Walk cycle

The function of walk cycles is a good way of keeping the character from being stationary. It is often looped to make the sequence reusable and to make the sequence seamless.

Here is the walk cycle I did using Maya with Max.

As you can see it's rather a robotic move but with regards of a first attempt it turned out better than I anticipated.
