Showreel with animations and VFXs
OWF REEL from Once Were Farmers on Vimeo.
I learned about this animation company when I went to the Manchester Animation festival. And I saw this animation called Nothing To Declare by Once Were Farmers, involving a man seemingly coming home on Christmas only to find his family have had mysterious things happen to them. I found the animation to be quite creepy, which was the very reason I found it all the more interesting.

His Girl Friday (1940) Lighting Analysis
When looking at the lighting of the scene, the black and white genre of the film can arguably deduct the lighting from it. However the lighting is still an essential part of the film nonetheless. One thing I like about the lighting in this scene is the ray beams from the windows that are in the middle of the room, which would indicate that the sun
is at the middle ground (Afternoon). This obviously isn't the time I intend on making the film. However I can take note the use of natural and electrical lighting that occurs in the scene and apply the usage method of it to my project.

Three people I admire
Chuck Jones
Chuck Jones was an animator best known for the classical Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. His main area of animation was traditional 2D cel-animation. The reason I admire him is because of the smooth style of animation, in which the animated characters flow at a normal pace with regular timing. In addition to the highly exaggerated animation involving character bounces and swaying to assist the situation or the dialogue.
Edwin Catmull
Edwin Catmull is a computer scientist and current president at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation studios. The reason I put Edwin on the list was due to the major contribution he has done to computer graphics. During his time at University of Utah, Edwin created a 3D hand for a graduate film project. This project is recognised as one of the earliest examples of 3D computer animation.
Buddy Holly
Buddy Holly was a 1950s musician who wrote and sang rock and roll songs that are known as being classics today. Although Buddy has created amazing music in my opinion, it is not the only reason I decided to include him in this list. The reason I put him on the list was due to his consistency and determination to follow his dream despite all the negative responses from others. Buddy grew up in a time where rock and roll was considered an abnormal music genre, as country was the beloved music genre at the time. Buddy Holly played Rock and Roll much to the chagrin of others. However, Buddy did not give up on his dream of music career and eventually became famous, with his music being loved by many.

Introduction to Professional Development
This module will focus on the future of developing a career in the creative industry. There will be a developed research portfolio. A 2500 report will be written based on industry that I intend on going to. This module will consist of:
Hand in date: 7th May
Hand in location: Blog submission
- Preparing for and attending mock interviews
- Job hunting/Researching
- Creating a showreel/portfolio
- Creating a professional online website
- Applying for a job
Hand in date: 7th May
Hand in location: Blog submission
Production schedule
This is a rough draft of my production schedule for both modules this year. The schedule will inevitably be changed throughout the year to fit the production process as there are some parts in this production schedule that possibly will not blend well into my timetable.
Introduction to Animation Production
This module will essentially be a continuation from my previous pre-production project. Which is now in the production and post production stage. There will also be a 2000 word report reflecting on the area of practical investigation.
